2 Projects I like

I just wanna let you (if you don't) try those projects...Anyway here they are: 1st: TayaIT (http://www.tayait.com) which is a search engine created by Taya (http://www.tayaenterprise.com) a company dedicated to Arabic search, Arabic NLP, etc which is really great area to target with too few real competitors (most of the companies investing in these area are very small ones, or not really investing enough as far as I know).. 2nd: Yamli (http://www.yamli.com) I'm not sure it's made by whom & that's a really strange thing from such a project..There's no much info about the teams who did it..Anyway, the project simply is a way to use the "3agalizy language" we -Arab youth- write to generate regular Arabic..Note here that this is not a translation it's more of a transcription... With a seamless performance, yet it's still in its beta version..The idea itself is not new (specially to me) as a friend was already working on it..but really what they did is BIG.. The problem here that you don't get it, if it will be an open source project or just another online service. Wonder if it's an OS project, imagine the number of applications that it might be integrated in.. Even if it's service can we have some APIs to use it..And last but not least, the eternal question "who made it?" :D coz it's not obvious @ all who did :D..

DotNetwork.org Preparation Meeting

DotNetWork user group is a group of people who are willing to participate and aid the developers community building & enhancing their technical skills.

We want to help both undergraduates & postgraduates knowing the latest technologies, new concepts, have an eye out for the world & communicating with the rest of it. We are willing to achieve that by planning multiple events for the community & help to spread the word about .Net. The user group is preparing for its first official meeting.

We're meeting to start founding the user group. Anyone who wants to join or start participating, please attend the meeting. We will get together at the preparation meeting to discuss how we can achieve the user group goals & see who's willing to participate as a member of the administrating team (which will cost them little bit of their time & will require their commitment), we need to plan this thing to be very independent, self-sustainable & self-grown, so we need to plan it right. That's where we can help each other with :) Also bring your ideas and what do you think we can do to grow big (not fast)...

Let's invite as many people as we can, we need tons of ideas, thoughts & spirits to get this thing running! Spread the word

Raya wet6amen

Last Thursday was the first Thursday on this month(September 2007) ; the monthly date for reunion of class FCIH 2007 graduates (whom I enjoy being friend with a lot of them) so I usually go out with them regularly (& really form my really few refreshing moments, which makes me get back to work, life, etc more active, specially that my class -FCIH 2006- is less active when it comes to outings :D) Anyway, our last outing was @ Moqatam, @ Joe's place (Yousef's) where two GP teams from the class (Kernels, FuTeX) used to live during the graduation project last days/month..I was intending @ first to go to Suez after the night is over but we were late so I had to go back to my apartment @ October..On my way back, I have to pass by a district called "Al-Sayeda-Aa'esha" which is a very poor area..It really reminded me of "Al-Arba3en" @ Suez.. Anyway, So when the bus was on its way through the area, police appeared from nowhere to stop the vehicle ("kamen")..& young officer (wearing civilian clothes) started to check -visually- all the ppl inside the car..It was my first time to experience that..so I was a bit shaky not to mention that I kept on tracking the officer though his thorough check & our eyes met more than once through that tracking.. So -for sure- you can see why he asked (which is a very polite word) me to comedown the vehicle with another guy..He asked me first for my ID..I handed it to him while another lower ranked policeman started (no asking involved) to check my -very suspiciously large- backpack ("dayman gaybaly l kalam") & off course found my laptop..So the Higher rank -but younger- officer asked me if I was working for some "computer company"..I answered -as if the laptop was a piece of some forbidden narcotics "7asheeeesh :D"- that I was working for Raya-software just to give him a reason for carying such a shameful thing ("tohma, mamno3at") ..So, surprisingly, his tune started to change a little bit (as soon as the word "Raya" came out of my mouth) & asked me for my Raya ID..So I started desperately, searching for it my backpack..finally I found it in its regular place (beside my laptop power cable) & showed him the ID..Phew!! finally I heard the relieving words "here u are, go on your way" ("etfadal ya bashmohandes") with the best tune I ever heard through the conversation.. Unfortunately, I was the only one who made it back as they got the other guy with them :S ..Anyway, I kept on thinking about the issue, & if I wasn't working @ Raya (not as software house but as part of reputable group -specially "Raya-Distribution"/"3awez nokia ro7 le Raya " thing, lolz- like Itworx, Itsoft for eg. which are very reputable in IT community...but I doubt that a common police officer would ever know about them..or Even if I'm working in Multinational companies like MS or Google..which may be -not for sure- known by the public but they won't imagine that ordinary Egyptian ppl like us could ever be working there.. Another thing is that I was too shaky in that incidence (actually I can't blame the officer for suspecting me to carry any forbidden substance, lolz), but I can never know why..I had similar incidences but with military police (asking for military status) but I'm usually ready with my faculty postgraduate-student ID to show it to them...also just to show them I'm still a student (but I get the same surprisingly great reaction of good & polite words like "etfadal ya bashmohandes" coz suddenly & according to this small piece of paper I'm moved to the good guys list :D) ...

3odna - We're back!!

It has been some time since my last post, not to mention that I used to post lyrics which aren't really post anyway, unless u though of them as an indirect way to show my feelings.. Anyway, I've decided I'm going (Intend to isA, & hope I won't be too lazy) to stop being too lazy & start to write more, but may be smaller posts, also I've started a new private blog (just for me) to write notes & too personal issues, untill they are ready to be rearranged to be posted here....coz a lot of posts have been lost coz they were too long or too personal or I was too busy to set them to be published... Not to mention that I like to read my writing specially notes about my life coz they show me how I was when I was younger (& supposedly less mature)...for eg the next post "Raya wet6amen" was ready in my mind for more than a week...actually I've started to think about the whole post (even the title, I've written it already but won't post it until I post this one) & this post itself when I was my way back to October after the incidence...but I'm tooooooo lazy as I told u..so hope I'm not too long..I'm actually writing this just for the record... May be the reason was not only being busy, lazy & all of that...it could be also being too consumed by the fascinating facebook...which really made me communicate more with my friends (which is one reason of why I started this blog) but after all it didn't give me the chance to express myself, my feelings in words..which are more expressing (for me) than just pix & videos (actually none of them can be sufficient)..

In A. Sa3ed farewell

I like the lyrics of this song a lot...& when I heard them today after A.Sa3ed tiny farewell yesterday...I decided to post them... Shadow of the Day by Linkin Park I close both locks below the window. I close both blinds and turn away. Sometimes solutions aren’t so simple. Sometimes goodbye’s the only way. And the sun will set for you, The sun will set for you. And the shadow of the day, Will embrace the world in grey, And the sun will set for you. In cards and flowers on your window, Your friends all plead for you to stay. Sometimes beginnings aren’t so simple. Sometimes goodbye’s the only way.
And the sun will set for you, The sun will set for you. And the shadow of the day, Will embrace the world in gray, And the sun will set for you.. And the shadow of the day, Will embrace the world in gray, And the sun will set for you.. And the shadow of the day, Will embrace the world in gray, And the sun will set for you.

Numb

By Linkin Park I'm tired of being what you want me to be Feeling so faithless lost under the surface Don't know what you're expecting of me Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) Every step that I take is another mistake to you (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) [Chorus] I've become so numb I can't feel you there Become so tired so much more aware I'm becoming this all I want to do Is be more like me and be less like you Can't you see that you're smothering me Holding too tightly afraid to lose control Cause everything that you thought I would be Has fallen apart right in front of you (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) Every step that I take is another mistake to you (Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow) And every second I waste is more than I can take [Chorus] I've become so numb I can't feel you there Become so tired so much more aware I'm becoming this all I want to do Is be more like me and be less like you And I know I may end up failing too But I know You were just like me with someone disappointed in you [Chorus] I've become so numb I can't feel you there Become so tired so much more aware I'm becoming this all I want to do Is be more like me and be less like you [Chorus] I've become so numb I can't feel you there I'm tired of being what you want me to be I've become so numb I can't feel you there I'm tired of being what you want me to be

In between

by Linkin Park Let me apologize to begin with Let me apologize for what I'm about to say But trying to be genuine was harder than it seemed But somehow I got caught up in between Let me apologize to begin with Let me apologize for what I'm about to say But trying to be someone else was harder than it seemed But somehow I got caught up in between Between my pride and my promise Between my lies and how the truth gets in the way The things I want to say to you get lost before they come The only thing that's worse than one is none Let me apologize to begin with Let me apologize for what I'm about to say But trying to regain your trust was harder than it seemed But somehow I got caught up in between Between my pride and my promise Between my lies and how the truth gets in the way The things I want to say to you get lost before they come The only thing that's worse than one is none The only thing that's worse than one is none And I cannot explain to you In anything I say or do or plan Fear is not afraid of you Guilt's a language you can understand I cannot explain to you in anything I say or do I hope the actions speak the words they can For my pride and my promise For my lies and how the truth gets in the way The things I want to say to you get lost before they come The only thing that's worse than one is none For my pride and my promise Between my lies and how the truth gets in the way The things I want to say to you get lost before they come The only thing that's worse than one is none The only thing that's worse than one is none The only thing that's worse than one is none

Get that dirt off your shoulder

I was looking for the meaning of "Getting dirt off One's shoulder" on the web when I found this story..which I really like...
A donkey falls into a well and cannot get out. The farmer tries to get the donkey out by rope, unsuccessful in his attempt. He decides, instead, to just give up and bury the donkey in the well. As the farmer begins filling the hole with dirt, the donkey becomes depressed, realizing that all of the dirt on his shoulders and back were going to eventually bury him. He then thought of an idea: I can just shake it off and step up. Therefore, he could just die by doing nothing and getting buried, or shake the dirt off his shoulders and step up to the occasion. So when you have a problem, will you shake it off and step up or be buried?

If Everyone Cared!!

From underneath the trees, we watch the sky confusing stars with satellites I never dreamed that you'd be mine But here we are, we're here tonight Singing Amen, I, I'm alive (I'm alive) Singing Amen, I, I'm alive [Chorus:] If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride Then we'd see the day, when nobody died And I'm singing A, Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive Amen I, Amen I, Amen I, I'm alive And in the air the fireflies Our only light in paradise would show the world they were wrong And teach them all to sing along Singing Amen, I, I'm alive (I'm alive) Singing A, Amen, I, I'm alive [Chorus x2] If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride Then we'd see the day, when nobody died If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride Then we'd see the day, when nobody died When nobody died... ahh ahh... And as we lie beneath the stars We realize how small we are If they could love like you and me Imagine what the world could be [Chorus x2] If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride Then we'd see the day, when nobody died If everyone cared and nobody cried If everyone loved and nobody lied If everyone shared and swallowed their pride Then we'd see the day, when nobody died We'd see the day, we'd see the day When nobody died... We'd see the day, we'd see the day When nobody died...died...! We'd see the day when nobody died by Nickelback

One Step Closer

I cannot take this anymore I'm saying everything I've said before All these words they make no sense I find bliss in ignorance Less I hear the less you'll say But you'll find that out anyway Just like before... Everything you say to me Takes me one step closer to the edge And I'm about to break I need a little room to breathe Cause I'm one step closer to the edge And I'm about to break I find the answers aren't so clear Wish I could find a way to disappear All these thoughts they make no sense I find bliss in ignorance Nothing seems to go away Over and over again Chorus Shut up when I'm talking to you Shut up, shut up, shut up (2x) I’m about to break! 5 reasons to use IM rather than face-to-face conversation

1. You can always do other stuff (read, or even play a game) while talking to ppl (without being distracted) 2. You can even talk to more than one person @ a time on different topics & may be even with different attitude!! 3. You can totally leave ppl you are talking to & come back latter without they feel offended 4. You can always convince other ppl that you are in a totally different mood (use emoticons, act, etc...) other than the one you are 5. You can always use much more time (than in a regular conversation) to think or make up a reply without being caught (you can always say u were away or busy talking to somebody else)

What I've Done!!

Just Watch this!!& read the lyrics!!
In this farewell, There’s no blood, There’s no alibi. ‘Cause I’ve drawn regret, From the truth, Of a thousand lies. So let mercy come, And wash away… What I’ve Done. I’ll face myself, To cross out what I’ve become. Erase myself, And let go of what I’ve done. Put to rest, What you thought of me. While I clean this slate, With the hands, Of uncertainty. So let mercy come, And wash away… What I’ve Done. I’ll face myself, To cross out what I’ve become. Erase myself, And let go of what I’ve done. For What I’ve Done I'll start again, And whatever pain may come. Today this ends, I’m forgiving what I’ve done. I’ll face myself, To cross out what I’ve become. Erase myself, And let go of what I’ve done. What I’ve done. Forgiving What I’ve Done.

Frantic - Metallica

If I could have my wasted days back, Would I use them to get back on track? Stop to warm at karmas burning, Or Look ahead, but keep on turning. Do I have the strength To know how I'll go? Can I find it inside to deal with what I shouldn't know? Could I have my wasted days back? Would I use them to get back on track. You live it or you lie it! You live it or you lie it! My lifestyle determines my deathstyle! My lifestyle determines my deathstyle! Keep searching Keep on searching This search goes on This search goes on Keep searching. Keep on searching. This search goes on. This search goes on. Frantic tick tick tick tick tick tock Frantic tick tick tick tick tick tock Frantic tick tick tick tick tick tock Frantic tick tick tick tick tick tock I've worn out always being afraid An endless stream of fear that i've made Treading water full of worry This frantic tick tick talk of hurry Do I have the strength To know how I'll go? Can I find it inside to deal with what I shouldn't know? I've worn out always being afraid An endless stream of fear that i've made You live it or you lie it! You live it or you lie it! My lifestyle determines my deathstyle! My lifestyle determines my deathstyle! Keep searching. Keep on searching. This search goes on. This search goes on. Keep searching. Yeah, Keep on searching. This search goes on. on and on! Look Into My Eyes - Outlandish

Look into my eyes Tell me what you see You don't see a damn thing 'cause you can't relate to me You're blinded by our differences My life makes no sense to you I'm the persecuted one You're the red, white and blue Each day you wake in tranquility No fears to cross your eyes Each day I wake in gratitude Thanking God He let me rise You worry about your education And the bills you have to pay I worry about my vulnerable life And if I'll survive another day Your biggest fear is getting a ticket As you cruise your Cadillac My fear is that the tank that has just left Will turn around and come back Yet, do you know the truth of where your money goes? Do you let your media deceive your mind? Is this a truth nobody, nobody, nobody knows? Someone tell me ... Ooohh, let's not cry tonight I promise you one day it's through Ohh my brothers, Ohh my sisters Ooohh, shine a light for every soul that ain't with us no more Ohh my brothers, Ohh my sisters See I've known terror for quite some time 57 years so cruel Terror breathes the air I breathe It's the checkpoint on my way to school Terror is the robbery of my land And the torture of my mother The imprisonment of my innocent father The bullet in my baby brother The bulldozers and the tanks The gases and the guns The bombs that fall outside my door All due to your funds You blame me for defending myself Against the ways of my enemies I'm terrorized in my own land (what) And I'm the terrorist? Yet, do you know the truth of where your money goes? Do you let your media deceive your mind? Is this a truth nobody, nobody, nobody knows? Someone tell me ... Ooohh, let's not cry tonight, I promise you one day it's through Ohh my brothers, Ohh my sisters, Ooohh, shine a light for every soul that ain't with us no more Ohh my brothers, Ohh my sisters, Americans , do you realize that the taxes that you pay Feed the forces that traumatize my every living day So if I won't be here tomorrow It's written in my fate May the future bring a brighter day The end of our wait (pause) Ooohh, let's not cry tonight, I promise you one day it's through Ohh my brothers, Ohh my sisters, Ooohh, shine a light for every soul that ain't with us no more Ohh my brothers, Ohh my sisters, [with kids] Ohh let's not cry tonight I promise you one day is through Ohh my brothers! Ohh my sisters! Ooh shine a light for every soul that ain't with us no more Ohh my brothers! Ohh my sisters!

Raya Kick-Off Meeting

Today, I've attended Raya Kick Off Meeting...It was a great day (thought I had to wear a suit :'( , & go back to work[@makram 3ebed st.] after attending the meeting @ Mövenpick [@ 6th of October] :'( ) Anyway, guess what :D...I met Dr Hajaj there, & He the first one to become one of RAC (Raya Achievers Club, I'll explain shortly) members for this year for his achievements @ Raya-Integration, in the sales team, & he told me that "weshy 7elw 3aleh" :D... What's RAC, RAC is a Honor list, prepared by Raya each year, according to some criteria (I'm not yet what are they). The list is not ordered in anyway, so every rayan [ Raya employee :D] who fulfill these criteria is automatically a member of the club :D...for examples this year's RAC had more than 100 members. So, what is good aout joining RAC...RAC members every year, go to different places every year, (these places are announced @ the previous kick-off meeting) for eg this year RAC will go to Brazil, next year RAC (RAC2007) will go to Tunisia, isA...so, Dr. Hajaj will be to Brazil soon :D..."men 3'er na2a ya3ny" :D... Btw, for the first time, now, I'm sure that Raya was going to be a partner in Etesalat (the third upcoming cellular network in Egypt), & actually Raya is still a partner, but it sold half its share to Vodafone (almost for 104 millions :D). Also, unfortunately, I knew that the biggest subsidiary of Raya, is Raya-Distribution (Number of employees, Income), so we (Raya-Software) were minority :D...actually, when they started calling RAC memebers from Distribution (they called their names at the ned cause they were tooooo much) every name called was accompanied by whistling & wowing more any other subsidiary...as if it was a match :D...actually they have departments more than all the number of all other subsidiaries... I guess that Dr. Mo7amed Sale7 (the head of Scientific Computing Centre, the one infront of our faculty) was also there, & is a part of RAC, probably he's in Raya-Telecom....

Rayawy

Hey Guys, I've offcially joined Raya Software, last Monday (25/2/2007) on a project basis (not a permanent employee) . Hope I'll be a permanent one soon. The only problem, now, is that they have a smart casual dress code, :'( , which doesn't suit me at all. I've been always comfortable with casual wear, That's why I wanna join Google :D....According to Google philosophy "You can be serious without a suit."...which I totally agree with :D...Now, I'm suffering from wearing - some how - formal clothes...anyway....working at Raya worth a small sacrifice like this :D...

Easier to run - Linkin Park

It’s easier to run Replacing this pain with something numb It’s so much easier to go Than face all this pain here all alone Something has been taken From deep inside of me A secret I’ve kept locked away No one can ever see Wounds so deep they never show They never go away Like moving pictures in my head For years and years they’ve played If I could change I would Take back the pain I would Retrace every wrong move that I made I would If I could take all the shame to the grave I would Sometimes I remember The darkness of my past Bringing back these memories I wish I didn’t have Sometimes I think of letting go And never looking back And never moving forward so There would never bee a past Just washing it aside All of the helplessness inside Pretending I don’t feel misplaced Is so much simpler than change It’s easier to run replacing this pain with something numb It’s so much easier to go Than face all this pain here all alone

E-mail Tip

For those who want to send from email addresses other the mail account you are using, for eg if you have an IEEE alias & want to send & receive messages from it...You can from Gmail (I guess from Hotmail too, but not Yahoo!) use your alias in the "From" field in your e-mail messages by adding you alias as a new account... In Gmail that can be done easily...just go to Settings>Accounts>Add another email address...add you new address..& u'll receive an email from Gmail Team on that new mail address telling you your confirmation code...type you address & here u r....every message you compose will have a combo box from which you can select your preferred "From" Value...

State of The Art - Chester Bennington

There's no way to find out what's inside you
Until you fall into the hole
You dug for yourself while you slept here
Too young, too selfish, too cold

And when you find out what's been waiting
The moment you open your eyes
You'll see your true reflection
The very first time in your life

You cannot fight what's in you
This will not be goodnight(denied) [2x]

Cry to yourself
Nothing will help
It's to late to change what's been done
You do what you've always done best
You run

Into the hole you fall deeper
Deeper the faster you run
It won't stop until you accept
Accept everything that you've done

You cannot fight what's in you
This will not be goodnight(denied) [2x]

Cry to yourself
Nothing will help
It's to late to change what's been done
You do what you've always done best
You run

Linkin Park - Morning After

Caught up against the wall again Tied and chained to the ball again Never cease to amaze in minds So I just sleep sleep sleep please don't Wake me till the morning after [2x] Cut and bruised by the fall again Lick my wounds like a dog again Is that a light at the end of the tunnel That I see I see please let it be but don't Wake me till the morning after [3x] Oh I'm so tired there has got to be an end to the pain I feel when I'm awake and alive alive alive alive and I'm dreamin' Caught up against the wall again Tied and chained to the ball again Is that a light at the end of the tunnel That I see I see please let it be but don't Wake me till the morning after [3x] Oh I'm so tired there has got to be an end to the pain I feel when I'm Awake and alive alive alive Alive and I'm dreamin'

You know me, I used to get caught up in everyday life Tried to make it through my day so I could sleep at night Tried to figure out my way through the maze Of rights and wrongs, but like you used to say Nothing feels like it's really worth it Forget perfect, I'm trying not to be worthless Since I last saw you I been looking for a purpose Well I met this kid who thought like I did He had a weird way of looking at it This is what he said Slip out the back before they know you were there And at the worst you'll see nobody cares Cos you don't wanna be around when it all goes down Even heroes know when to be scared Slip out the back before they know you were there And at the worst you'll see nobody cares Cos you don't wanna be around when it all goes down Even heroes know when to be scared I don't remember where I met him or remember his name But he walked funny like he was just too big for his frame Just over five foot but he weighed a buck fifty And what he said just seemed so right it stuck with me Listen its like poker you can play your best But you got to know when to fold your cards and take a rest And know when to hold your cards and hold your breath And hope that nobody else is stacking the deck because I don't need to tell you that life isn't fair, it doesn't care It arbitrarily cuts off your air, and like you I want someone to say its OKAY But in the truest parts of our hearts everybody's afraid But just underappreciated and overwhelmed Fighting so hard to hide our fear that were scaring ourselves You understand when I'm saying that you always did But its different in the words of a cowardly kid Slip out the back before they know you were there And at the worst you'll see nobody cares Cos you don't wanna be around when it all goes down Even heroes know when to be scared Slip out the back before they know you were there And at the worst you'll see nobody cares Cos you don't wanna be around when it all goes down Even heroes know when to be scared I'm no hero, you remember how I was, you know All I ever did was worry, feeling out of control To the point where everything was going end over end I'm spinning around in circles again This is where you come in All of this to explain to you why I had to separate myself away from yesterday's life Please remember this isn't how I hoped it would be But I had to protect you from me Thats why I slipped out the back before you knew I was there I know you felt unprepared But every single time I was around I just bring you down And I could tell that it was time to be scared Thats why I slipped out the back before you knew I was there And I know the way I left wasn't fair I didn't want to be around just to bring you down I'm not a hero but don't think I didn't care

Terrance Eats Knowledge

This animation is pretty old (2003) yet I love it sooo much....I even have it on my PC & play it every now & then since I've seen it long long ago...I really like the rhythm...though the story has no moral at all...It's a story/song about little Terrance who is really a good student...& how studying is mother of all evil ...lol...anyway, I've added the lyrics too...So enjoy it!! Terrence was a normal boy, just like me or you. Except he had a secret about what he liked to do. When we get down for breakfast to sit and have our porridge, Terrence would just walk around and eat some people's knowledge. He'd listen to you talking about your Gran's hair, And if it sounded interesting he'd pluck it from the air. "Your ten years old," announced his mum, "and cleverer than most, Sit with us and you can have this present from us both." "A gift, a gift!" Terrence cried, his eyes alight in awe. He pulled the shiny paper back and gasped at what he saw. "It's a book of facts for you to digest night and day." Terrence didn't hesitate, he started straight away. He chomped his way from A-Z but wasn't quite prepared, For as he got to quantam science he got a little scared. Terrence he was getting full, he knew he should slow down, His mother looked on anxiously, his dad began to frown. Einstein, Newton, Algebra, Terrence was now loaded. His heart was cursed he knew so much he finally exploded. The moral of this story for all you girls and boys, Who prefer to study Sheaksphere instead of playing with your toys, Is to save it for the classroom to cram facts in your head. Or you'll end up like Terrence is, A clever kid but dead.
